The short answer
AI builders write working code fast, but they build what you ask for. If you never ask for protections, or never test them, gaps can slip through. Safety comes from a simple routine: test as a user, keep secrets secret, and use your platform's built-in login, database and payment tools instead of inventing your own.
The real risks
- Data leaks: one user can open another user's records because database access rules are missing or turned off.
- Exposed keys: secret API keys (Stripe, OpenAI) pasted into page code, where anyone can find them.
- Hidden, not protected: admin pages that are only hidden from the menu but open to anyone with the link.
- Storing passwords or card numbers yourself instead of using a login system and a payment provider.
- Getting stuck: changes that break other features when nobody understands how the app fits together.
Accounts and data checklist
- Users can only see their own data — test this with two accounts.
- Admin pages are protected, not just hidden.
- Passwords are handled by your platform's login system, never stored yourself.
- Don't collect data you don't need.
Keys and payments checklist
- Secret keys are stored as secrets, never pasted into pages.
- Payments go through Stripe or similar — never handle card numbers yourself.
Before you launch
- Run your builder's security scan and fix warnings.
- Add a privacy policy and terms of use.
- Turn on two-factor login for every tool you use to run the business.
- Keep a backup or export of your data.
How we teach it
In Vibe Coding Academy, security is part of building, not an afterthought. Students work through this checklist before real users sign up, and learn to ask the AI to explain and test what it built.
