A 20-minute customer interview structure. Record (with permission) and let AI summarise afterwards.
Opening (2 min)
- “Thanks for your time. I'm researching how [audience] handle [task]. I'm not selling anything.”
- “There are no wrong answers — honest is most helpful.”
Context (5 min)
- “Tell me about your role and a typical week.”
- “Where does [task] fit in?”
The problem (10 min)
- “Tell me about the last time [problem] happened.”
- “What did you do? How long did it take?”
- “What have you tried? Why did you stop?”
- “If you could wave a magic wand, what would change?”
Close (3 min)
- “Can I show you something I'm working on in a couple of weeks?”
- “Who else do you know who deals with this?”
After the call
- Paste your notes into AI: “Extract pains, current solutions, quotes and buying signals.”
- Log each interview in one spreadsheet so patterns appear.
