Product brief template
Write this before opening any AI builder. A clear brief gives you a working first version instead of a messy one.
The brief
- One-liner: “An app that helps [who] do [what] so they can [result].”
- Users: who signs in and what each type of user can do.
- Core flow: the 3–5 steps a user takes to get value.
- Screens: list each page and what's on it.
- Data: what needs to be saved (e.g. clients, projects, invoices).
- Out of scope: what version 1 will NOT do.
Example one-liner
- “A booking app for yoga teachers so students can reserve and pay for classes from their phone.”
Tip
- Paste the brief into ChatGPT first: “What's missing or unclear? Ask me questions.” Then give the improved version to your builder.
